Description

Uncover thousands of years of ancient history in three of the world’s oldest and most interesting countries. Tour the fascinating wonders and monuments of age-old Egypt, explore the impressive sacred sites of Israel, marvel at amazing endless desert landscapes and discover the incredible Lost City of Petra.

Experience the wonders of ancient Egypt

Our Middle East tour starts in ancient Egypt where we visit all the must-see sights as well as enjoy a 4-night Nile cruise. Highlights of this part of the tour include; the Great Pyramids of Giza, the iconic Sphinx, the unique step pyramid of Sakkara, the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, the world-famous Egyptian Museum, the impressive Valley of the Kings, the stunning temples of Abu Simbel and the riverside temples of Kom Ombo.

Tour Israel a land of amazing diversity and beauty

From Egypt our Middle East tour continues to Israel, a land of amazing diversity and beauty. Our touring in Israel starts with a visit to the Diaspora Museum before making our way to Jerusalem. Here we will explore both the new and old cities and enjoy a sound and light show at the Tower of David Museum. We then make our way to Galilee and enjoy a wine tasting at the Golan Winery.

Be amazed by the incredible lost city of Petra

As our Middle East tour continues we depart Israel and cross the border in to Jordan, heading to Aqaba (Red Sea). We then spend time exploring the stunning scenery of the unique desert landscape of Wadi Rum by 4WD. From Wadi Rum we continue to Petra. The incredible Lost City of Petra is a real highlight of this tour and is one of the world’s greatest treasures. Our next stop is the spectacular Dead Sea. At 400-metres below sea level it is the lowest place on earth! Here there is a chance to swim or float in the buoyant salty waters. Before we depart Jordan we visit the beautifully preserved Roman city of Jerash.

Please note: We are sure you will have a fantastic time in Jordan. Marion Bunnik has just finished travelling through Jordan on an inspection visit and has noticed that Jordan has had an enormous influx of tourists over the past couple of years. As a result of this, the infrastructure that is usually enjoyed by tourists in well developed countries can often be stretched and therefore, inconsistent. This may mean that there may be noticeable differences in standards, including vehicles, hotels and guides. Bunnik Tours always endeavours to provide the best touring experience possible and recommends that everyone who visits Jordan, do so with an open mind and flexibility.

Nile Cruise Note

Nile Cruise Note

Note on Nile Cruises: Due to the limited space for docking along the Nile, ships bank together when stopped. Therefore in some cases, you may need to walk through as many as six ships to enter and exit our cruise ship. The Nile Cruises featured on all tourist itineraries to Egypt operate between the cities of Luxor and Aswan. These cities lie only 240 kilometres apart which means this distance could easily be covered in only 1 or 2 days without stops. However, due to logistical and scheduling reasons the cruises are offered only as 3, 4 and 7 night packages. This allows for extensive sightseeing along the way and, as such, much of the time is spent in port in Luxor, Edfu, Kom Ombo or Aswan. Each cruise itinerary will however, have an element of day-time cruising allowing us to relax and see life along the river.

Note on Esna Lock and Itinerary Schedule: Please note that due to the high volume of river traffic all cruise itineraries are subject to change without notice. The order and timing of sightseeing may therefore change however all inclusions will remain the same. Similarly travel through the Esna Lock is subject to river traffic and local conditions which means we may pass through the lock during the night or have an extended wait prior to entering the lock
